If you are starting to feel old raise your hand *raises hand*. You guys it is officially the year 2017! How did we get here so quickly? The year where Donald Trump is President of the United States and the year where such a device exists that allows you to literally kiss someone through the phone. Ah, what a time to be alive. Happy New Year regardless and here’s hoping it’s the best year yet.
Late last year I was in full hair and make up at 5am on the Durban beachfront to try and catch the sunrise and some good pics of my outfit, but instead was greeted with a cloudy sky and intense windy conditions. My photographer and I managed to come up with a last minute change of plan and I’m pretty happy with the end result.
I built this outfit around my favourite trend at the moment, the neck scarf! It is so versatile and fun to play around with, what with wearing it in different ways. I’m wearing a navy blue scarf from Woolies here but I’ve also got a khaki green and white scarf which I’ve yet to wear. I’ve chosen to pair it with a denim dress and some sneakers; along with the skate park as my backdrop the overall look was a lot edgier than I originally envisioned. Tie the scarf so that none of the ties are showing, throw on some summer wedges and this look instantly has a make over. Perfect for when you need to make your wardrobe stretch this month (because who has money for new clothes after the festive season?). I love the neck scarf trend so much I’m sure it will be making another appearance on my blog this year; especially considering I’m not sure I’m doing the best job explaining the different variations of the way it can be worn. I will just have to show you 😀

I didn’t pair my outfit with a bag as I couldn’t decide what type of bag I wanted. If I had chosen a bag I probably would have gone with a metallic backpack of some sort. Perfect for a fun day out where you will need lots of things with you; not to mention it fits perfectly with the street style look going on. If you have any ideas as to what you think would be a great addition to the look, I’m always interested to hear from you.
Just a short post today as; if everyone is feeling as nostalgic and sleepy as I am this time of year then I’m sure you’re not up for big paragraphs of reading. Be sure to follow me on my social media and stay up to date with the ongoings of The Kayleigh Khronicles this year. Looking forward to a fun-filled busy year ahead!
