I’m aware these pictures have been lingering on my Instagram for quite some time with no context and no related content to be found. Well honestly, better late than never. No but seriously, it was a real toss up between finally writing this blog post or doing away with it altogether. As some of you have noticed I’ve been MIA for the past two months and am only now starting to transition myself back into the online world. With this in mind, things might be a bit delayed, but they’re making their way to you nonetheless.
Going by the title of this post I’m sure you’re able to figure out what the focal point of this post is all about – ugly sneakers! Sneakers so ugly they actually look pretty 😄 Or so I’ve been told, but I think you have to be ‘with it’ when it comes to trends and 2019 styles to appreciate this type of sneaker. For the vast majority it appears as though I’m prancing around in my Dad’s running shoes from the 90s, and I ain’t mad about that either (I love me some 90s fashion). However if you’re like me and fit into the other category of people who are here for this sneaker, you’ll appreciate the look I’ve put together.
I’ve touched on the ugly sneaker trend in previous blog posts and I’ve also mentioned how I like to try and incorporate classic pieces with trendy pieces, so as not to look like a walking store mannequin – as though I’m promoting everything and anything that’s ‘cool’ right now. This particular pair of sneakers is from the Kylie Jenner collar with Adidas, Falcon shoes as it’s known. Compared to other big bulky sneakers of this nature that I own, they are super light weight and super comfortable, check check! (That was me ticking boxes, keep up guys). I can wear them in a really casual setting or dress them up a bit for something more formal, they work either way.
In other news, my newish/not so new MK bag is making it’s debut appearance on my blog. I bought this bag in February this year and haven’t made much use of it during the cold and rainy Cape Town winter. Turns out when it’s cold I wear a lot of black, so not many of my outfits have suited this nude crossbody/hand held mini Mercer bag. I do love how versatile it is regardless and is definitely a favourite of mine. Expect more looks from us two.

I don’t want to toot my own horn but I feel like I’m definitely getting better at this whole casual thing. I was scrolling through my blog the other day and felt really impressed at the volume of laid back looks I’ve started to accumulate. I can feel something flashy and overdone is on it’s way though, don’t get too comfortable with this sort of thing just yet.
I hope you like my street style look and are inspired to take on the ugly sneaker. As always, my advice is to play around and try different variations of this trend. Go for different colours, different sizes and if possible, go for the Balenciaga’s! 😂
