Here I am again, complaining about the sunshine disappearing and the blankets coming out, yup winter is back. How did we get here so quickly? I’m grateful to have escaped the early stages of Cape Town winter by being away most of April, but now the cold is coming down in full force and I have no where to hide. It’s time to make use of all the shopping I’ve done and bring out the coats and boots from the back of my cupboard.

I’ve had my eye on teddy coats since they first made an appearance last winter but held back on making a purchase at the risk of falling into a seasonal trend. Where possible I try to buy items that have a bit of longevity and that I see myself loving for a long time. With these coats I wasn’t even sure if I liked them initially.
But style aside, walking around in this teddy coat makes me feel like I have my duvet wrapped around me. I bought this jacket in a size small but even so, it’s very oversized and loose fitting – perfect for days where I feel very ‘blah’ and want to hide behind layers of clothing. In the same breath, also perfect for days where I want to strut my stuff and be on show (you know what I’m talking about).
These skinny jeans (are skinny jeans still in?) are a standard with my outfits and are, of course, from Topshop. If you’re a regular here you’ll know about my obsession with Topshop jeans so I’ll leave it at that. I’ve also got a few other favourites making an appearance in this look, see if you’re able to spot them out and notice how I’ve used them differently here versus in other outfits.

This post serves as a reminder to me, and maybe to you as well, to never say never when it comes to fashion. If a style sticks around long enough you might just find yourself liking it, regardless of whether you want to or not. There is obviously the exception to this rule in the form of crocs and a few other horrific items – just no. Always no.
