As the year begins to wind down and everything comes to a sudden halt over the festive season, if you listen closely you can hear the world give out a literal sigh of exhaustion and relief that we did it – we survived another year! 2016 has been an extremely challenging year for me personally and I for one one am ready for a new year with new adventures and new (slightly less challenging) challenges. Despite said exhaustion and all round laziness we still want to always look as good as we can, so I put together the perfect everyday outfit for those days when it takes everything out of you to even get up and be productive. You need an outfit that you can SLIP on and go… See what I did there?
The slip dress is definitely the dress of the season, worn with the right accessories and this outfit and can take you from day to night, or vice versa. Not to mention it’s as easy to put together as the name suggests. I chose to go with a more formal take on the slip dress as this is my version of something I wear to work. However now that it’s holiday season you can adapt this to something a bit more laid back with some sunnies and a beach bag. Softer colours also work really nicely for summer wear such as a pastel pink dress with a grey tee, although it is not a must. If worn correctly black in summer/day time is a bold statement and looks very chic.
Chokers are obviously a huge trend right now so I threw in a thick leather choker to add to my ‘take me seriously I’m a working girl’ look, as well as my last season’s gladiator sandals from Cotton On. I hadn’t planned on wearing them with this outfit but I tried them on at the last minute and it seemed to tie everything together. They have a slight wedge on them which gives you that added sophisticated edge that flats just don’t have.
The dress itself is from Factorie and has lovely movement so you don’t feel restricted. It’s very figure flattering as well and I felt very comfortable throughout the shoot and the rest of the day that I wore it. On a side note; I haven’t shopped at Cotton On or Factorie etc in the longest time, but in the past they used to be my go to shops when I was on a budget. These days there doesn’t seem to be much of a difference :/ They are not too much cheaper than your expensive name brands such as Zara and Topshop.

Another exciting aspect of the new year is that my blog is just about ready for it’s make over! I have been hard at work, or rather I should say I have been putting my web designer to work, to redesign and create a whole fresh new look for The Kayleigh Khronicles. She’s doing an amazing job and I can’t wait for you all to see it!
