One of the best things about fashion is; if you keep your clothes long enough it’s almost a guarantee in the future they will roll on back in style. Fashion recycles itself and this spring season is no different. Polka dots are back! A style that not too long ago I deemed ‘outdated’ and ‘old fashioned’, I’m now obsessed with. I’ve also been dying to get my hands on a matching set of sorts this season, so when I found one WITH polka dots, I knew it had my name on it.
My first Spring post of the season, just last month, was actually a very similar look to what I am wearing here. This look is basically Here Comes The Sun Part 2. Same hat, same shoes (in a different colour) and a matching set instead of a dress. I know I might say this a lot but this outfit is seriously my favourite right now! The shoes, hat and twin set are all a staple in my wardrobe. As individual pieces paired with other items or this look as a whole, you can’t go wrong.
I’ve had a few messages asking me if I’m sponsored by Forever New or something (LOL) as I own so many of their clothes – not the case guys. I promise I own other clothes besides Forever New items! It does just so happen that I post a lot of my Forever New outfits on my blog, not sure why it’s worked out that way but it has.
Polka Dot Twin Set – Forever New
Hat – Country Road
Espedrilles – Woolworths
While I have gone for a very classic polka dot combo, there are so many different variations of the trend and different ways to incorporate polka dots into your look. For more polka dot inspo check out this article from Vogue.
This shoot was one of my favourite to date. I met up with Tegan Smith on the Seapoint promenade, ate some ice-cream and enjoyed the sunshine. Although the water situation in Cape Town is dire at the moment and we desperately need the rain, an afternoon of sunshine and beach bliss really is good for the soul.
