In the words of Jeremy Starr, “Hi, how are ya?”. I’m trying my best to not complain about the cold this winter because looking back at previous blog posts, it seems that’s been the main focal point of my conversations. So yes, I don’t like winter, I feel the cold a lot more than other people and I would take a summer’s day over this any day. Moving on.
The look I’ve captured below was actually built around my pearl hair clips that I got not too long before this. I’d been looking for a pair that I liked for ages as I’m obsessed with the trend and find it such a subtle, elegant touch to an outfit.

I’ve been stocking up on sweaters and thick wool knits over the past month and have really been basing my winter wardrobe off of these, as well as a staple pair (or two) of comfy jeans. From there I just layer with coats, boots/sneakers and accessories. This way when it’s freezing cold in the morning and I’m half asleep, I don’t have to think too much about what to wear. It’s always the same just with different variations.
Shock, horror! This pink knit (and the rest of the outfit) is from Country Road. I love good quality sweaters that don’t feel rough to the touch and are warm enough to give you the option of not needing to wear a coat as well, that’s why Country Road, Witchery and Poetry are some of my favourite places to do winter shopping. You’ll pay a bit more than other shops for your items but you’ll keep them much longer and get more wear out of them – guaranteed.

If you’re struggling to find a winter style that you feel comfortable in and can maintain for seasons to come, my advice would be to invest in a couple of timeless pieces that will never go out of style. I’ve paired my look with a leather slouch bag (that’s definitely not the name of it but I’ve always called it that 😂 ) and leather ankle boots. My boots are a bit more ‘on-trend’ than what a staple piece usually is, as they have studs on the side and a pointed tip. Regardless, I love them and they are not to ‘dressy’ so I can get away with wearing them for my day-to-day activities. I’ve got way too many shoes, and clothes for that matter, that never see the light of day as I’m waiting for ‘the right time to wear them’.
Thanks, once again, to Tegan for capturing these pics for me and getting creative with finding new locations for us to shoot. We always have such a fun time!
