It just wouldn’t be a new year without an official, philosophical ‘new year, new me’ blog post. If you’re reading this now, thank you for still returning to my blog after a very intermittent series of posts in 2019. Unlike every other new year post on my blog, I’m not going to be making any false promises about how frequently content will be coming out and what type of posts I’ll be sharing, this year I’m doing more of a ‘you get what you get’ type of approach. Rather under promise and over deliver eh?

At the moment I find myself in at a bit of a standstill in my blogging journey. While I never started my blog to make money off of it or get freebies from different brands, over the years it did grow into something more than just a hobby. I’ve worked with some of my favourite brands and attended amazing events, meeting inspirational bloggers and just having the best time learning and growing creatively. However last year I felt like I went back a couple hundred steps. It was such a tough year for me personally and I became very delayed on social media (an extension of my blog) and my blog posts became almost non-existent. When so much is going on in my life, I find it very difficult to prioritise creating content and sharing with others. My natural inclination is to retract from the world and keep to myself.
Anyway, here I am, still standing and still excited to have my little blurb of the internet to share my words. This year I’m tossing the ‘new year, new me’ spiel and replacing it with ‘new year, better me’. Why you may ask? Because last year I feel that I truly gave it my all. I worked on changing bad habits, cutting out friendships that were no longer good for me, pursuing my dreams, exploring, adventuring and not giving up – in every situation. This year I want to devote my time to continuing the efforts I previously made. I think I’m off to a good start and am headed in the right direction, now it’s about being consistent and seeing it through.
Maybe you see 2020 as a fresh start, a new year and a new decade to reinvent yourself, and I’m all for that. Go for it! Do the things you’ve always dreamt of and be the person you’ve always wanted to be. But don’t be so quick to discredit all that you’ve already achieved and the person you already are. We should strive to keep improving, growing and thriving in every aspect of our lives, but sometimes all we need is a little tweak here and there, not to start again from the beginning.

I know that January is near the end already (HOW is time going so quickly?!) and some of you may have given up on those New Year resolutions by now (no judgement) but I hope you can find the motivation to keep at them. Don’t be so hard on yourself. So you didn’t work out that day you said you would, or you spent money when you said you would save – guess what? You can still do what you said you would the next time. Just be gracious towards yourself, keeping going and try again.
In the meantime, I hope you enjoy these bikini pics of me (???) looking happy and all summery and stuff. Happy belated 2020 gals. Chat soon.

Awesome post! Keep up the great work! 🙂
