Sheesh. We made it. First month of 2016 done and dusted, and what a busy year it has been already. So with it being the beginning of February, the month of love and all that other good stuff, I thought I’d keep to a theme and incorporate love into my posts for the next few weeks. This week I want to share with you five looks that are my favourite right now – five looks to love.
- Neutrals
This is a look I can’t see going anywhere in a hurry, and furthermore you would have to try very hard to make it look bad. I love a neutral palette to play with and boy does Gigi do it justice! Neutrals can be worn in so many different ways, white jeans and nude layering as shown above are a favourite of mine. It does help that a supermodel is rocking the look of course. 2. All Black Everything
All black is a look you have to wear carefully as there is a fine line between looking very depressed and formal, and looking sheek and effortlessly glam. I love the double pairing with black on black, especially in casual wear. In the past I used to think a full black outfit was utter ludacris, I felt that you had to contrast it with something. As I’ve grown up I’ve of course learnt that there are no rules (just the ones I make up) when it comes to fashion and black on black is a great option, no matter the occasion.
3. The Oversized Choker
Okay Kim K, I have to give you this one. You know how to work your accessories. The oversized choker is an ultimate fav of mine right now, it literally can take an any simple or plain outfit and make it fashion forward. I love the different variations of this choker as well and how it draws attention to your face – round of applause for the chunky choker!
4. Thigh High Boots
Unfortunately the thigh high boots aren’t that big in SA yet, it’s the kind of trend that might be out of place here as we don’t really have the city life to wear these boots. Especially in Durban where I live, we scream hippy vibes and beach days far more than high end sophistication. However no one is stopping us so if you like this trend as much as me, let’s break social barriers and rock a thigh high boot to work tomorrow! I will if you will?
5. The Denim Skirt
For my last ‘look to love’ I unfortunately couldn’t find a Hollywood Starlit who was rocking this trend to my liking so I reverted back to these trusty Pinterest models to showcase the trendy denim skirt. I can’t believe the denim skirt is back; at first I was very hesitate towards it being brought back so soon, but 90s fashion is in full swing and this was a winning piece back in the day, as it has now become once again. Topshop – first it was your jeans and now its your skirts that are taking all my money! I never learn.
So there you have it. My top 5 favourite looks for February, or at least this week. Its nearly impossible to pick a favourite that will last as I change my mind the same amount of times I blink, but these 5 have been a recurring love of mine for a while now. As always I want to hear what you think, which of these looks is your favourite and which look do you think should have made it into my February favourites?
