July is here and along with it we welcome in the second half of the year. For me July is my favourite month of the year; for numerous reasons yet none so important to mention besides it being my birthday month! So if you haven’t already, it’s not too late to turn 2016 around and make it your year. For months now I have been promising some big things in the works, and FINALLY I put some of my plans in motion and shot some pics of a few looks I am loving right now.
Here in South Africa we are well into Winter this time of year, and while Durban suffers the least out of the other provinces in terms of feeling the Winter chill, it is particularly cold this year around – I’m sure I speak on behalf of every Durbanite who is still in shock and filled with uncertainty as to what coldness even feels like. For this reason I put together a semi formal look to help manage the Winter chill. Perfect for birthday gatherings, weddings or even other shindigs such as the Durban July. Swop the cream faux fur coat for a long Winter trench to turn this look into a more casual day outfit.
If you know me you know that nudes, beiges and browns are my favourite colours to play with, so it is no surprise I built my outfit around these shades. They are great neutral colours to have fun with during the Winter season. To add a pop of colour change out the brown suede skirt for a maroon high waisted skirt, or three quarter length skirt. Ideally still go for a piece that has an interesting texture, it adds a lovely visual component to your outfit. Eg; corduroy or velvet.

Also, I shot these pics a few weeks back when the weather was considerably warmer so it wasn’t necessary, but to really beat the chill add some sheer stockings to this look.

[…] as it looks, which is a bonus. Last year I did a post with a similar style faux fur coat (Julying) which I still get a lot of use out of, so it goes to show that this type of item is a piece you […]
