Happy New Year everyone! Considering it’s 10 days into the new year I’m not sure I can still get away with saying that, but it’s my first post of 2019 so let’s make an exception.
To get this out the way I want to touch on the topic that I spent a bit of time in my last few posts talking about and recently chatted a bit about it on my Instagram as well. I mentioned how a lot of people don’t really read blog posts anymore as they are not’ interesting enough’ or they prefer to keep up with YouTubers. This and a list of other reasons as well I’m sure. Now on the one hand, I can totally relate. I love YouTube and spend A LOT of my time there (I’m down playing this) and hope to start my own channel one day perhaps. I also find some blogs/articles very dull and uninspiring so it makes sense that religiously reading someone’s blog is not the first thing people are still excited to do. With this in mind my plans for my blog this year were to focus on really interesting topics that are very informative and provide my readers with some insight. Thought provoking posts that spark conversation amongst yourselves and give people something to take away from my blog.
The more I thought about it though, the more I was turned off by the idea. I do obviously want to incorporate more of the above mentioned topics – it goes without saying no one would want their blog to be uninteresting, duh. However I started this blog, and I quote, “As a place put my creative thoughts and ideas on display for others to view, as well as gain insight into my life. A sort of online fashion, beauty and lifestyle journal” If you’re looking for fashion advice, read Cosmo or the latest Vogue. If you’e looking to get to know me, learn about my personal fashion choices and read (at times) humorous articles, then come to The Kayleigh Khronicles.
I don’t know if that many of you needed me to reiterate that but it’s been a topic of conversation around so many fellow bloggers I felt it necessary to remind everyone that, as far as I’m concerned, my blog is still as relevant today as it was when I started it 3 years ago. I also wanted my readers to have this in mind at the start of the New Year as you read my posts throughout the year.
Mmmkay, now that that’s out the way lets resume normal programming.

I know it’s definitely not a fashion revolution on the horizon or as if I’ve had some type of breakthrough when I say, culottes are one of the best fashion items out there! So chic, stylish and comfortable! If it comes with a matching crop top, I mean that’s just too good to be true – in my little world it’s a dream outfit you guys 😂 This matching set was a purchase from Zara just before the peak of summer set in and came in red, yellow and navy blue. These bold colours were in hot demand but individually, so it seemed, based off of the stock left in the shops when I was there. Obviously not a lot of people walking around in head to toe bright colours, like me. I personally wasn’t a fun of the bright yellow and red ones but a variety of choices is always welcome.
I’ve paired this casual weekend look with black tassel earrings and black woven slides, with a red lip of course (I tend to do that a lot). All-in-all this look was so comfortable and visually really striking. It’s definitely a piece that I’ll rewear and keep for years to come.
