You look like you’ve just won the Tour de France and you’re cycling around town. – Kourtney Kardashian
We’re all familiar with ‘activewear days’. Those days where you’re not really working out but you’re also not really prepared to put in the effort to put together an outfit and do your hair and make-up. Activewear allows you to ditch all of that under the premise of ‘I’m about to work out’, or ‘I’ve just finished working out’. In my case, I use this excuse a lot and more often than not I have no plans to work out that day. Keeping this in mind, I couldn’t help but want to get involved in the latest trend circulating at the moment – the bike shorts.

Finding more stylish ways of dressing down should definitely be at the top of my to-do list as I always, and I mean always, somehow manage to look overdressed/done up everywhere I go. It’s a gift and a curse people. Hopefully this look is the start of many casual look to come, that is if this looks casual? What do you think, did I nail it?
My love for well tailored blazers continues to grow, with this specific piece being another welcomed addition to my collection. I love how versatile they are and of course, can be dressed up or down. This pin stripped blazer was part of a matching pant suit which I opted to not go for, as I don’t really work in a corporate environment where I could walk around in a full on suit. It’s not the type of look that would scream ‘weekend wear’ either, so just the blazer it is. Flattering, comfortable, and very on trend, this blazer is a perfect staple item you can rewear over and over again.
I can’t not give a shoutout to these ‘ugly’ Fila sneakers. I wanted these shoes for such a long time before they even arrived in SA and when they did arrive, I probably bought them in the same week. I was that keen. Bike shorts and oversized sneakers tick the same box in terms of big trends of 2018 (OMG this look is so last year) so it was a natural choice pairing these two together.

This look is such a fun, versatile one, there are a million different ways to wear these items. I mean, I’m so OCD that I paired my red MK bag with this look purely because my sneakers have the slightest touch of red in them too 😂 I am psycho. However, if you’re more adventurous than I am you can really play with different pops of colour and texture, maybe even swap out the crossbody for a belt bag.
Although I am so clearly not make-up free or dressed to work-out, this look is a lot more comfortable than numerous others and requires significantly less time and energy to put together. It’s definitely the ‘in-between’ vibe we’ve all been waiting for. I’d say, save these shorts for a (metaphorically) rainy day and pair them together with one or two basic pieces and it’s nearly impossible to not have a trendy, stylish outfit on your hands. I did say nearly impossible, please don’t prove me wrong…
