Welcome back to my life, where the weather is cold, the days busy and the workload never-ending.
Not my normal intro I’ll admit but that pretty much sums up the last few weeks for me. I’ve had a lot of changes take place recently and all of my new ventures are currently in full swing. Balancing all these different projects can be challenging as I’m someone who wants to do it all and have it all, but at the same time be able to give 100% of myself to each task at hand. I haven’t quite figured out how this is all going to work just yet, but I’m good at making stuff happen.
Side note: Can you tell how much I am hating the Cape Town cold weather? Honestly I completely forgot how awful it is being so cold ALL the time! Sorry to everyone who has had to put up with my complaints this winter…
Now that my Negative Nancy moment is over I will say that Cape Town has very quickly become home for me. I feel so at ease here and love the metropolitan feel of the city. There is always something to do or someone to see, and as I mentioned in my last post, the fashion is amazing!
I love being able to dress however I see fit and get away with it. There is no such thing as overdressed in The Mother City. Shown in this outfit is one of my favorite winter pieces these season – my navy blue faux fur coat. It’s as warm and comfortable as it looks, which is a bonus. Last year I did a post with a similar style faux fur coat (Julying) which I still get a lot of use out of, so it goes to show that this type of item is a piece you will wear for seasons to come.
This look unintentionally, but not really, is made up of velvet. My to-die-for velvet mid-calf silhouette boots which I have been wearing religiously since I got them, as well as this three-quarter length velvet slip dress. I’m still obsessing over the slip dress trend and what a fun way to change up the normal go-to winter wardrobe? Because this is winter, and I clearly can’t handle the cold, I have paired my dress with a grey turtle neck jersey. It’s such a practical and versatile item – and seriously over looked! If there is anything you take away from my blog let it be this: there is no winter look that can’t be created with a turtle neck jersey! Layering is key and it is the perfect foundation garment.
I know this might sound like such basic advice but sometimes it’s the most simple, and sometimes obvious, pieces that are the most underrated.

Sorry that my hair is all over the place here, the wind was really strong and I gave up the fight and just went with it. Luckily my hair was at least tied back otherwise who knows what the outcome would have been. Wishing you all a happy and healthy rest of your week.
