I love timeless, chic and elegant clothes but I also love trendy, quirky and retro clothes. I always preach about buying items that can be worn over and over again but spend little emphasis on mentioning that it’s still okay to buy pieces that you may only wear for a certain period of time. I put together a look combining a whole bunch of my favourite trends at the moment. Some, items I never thought I would never opt into and others, pieces I will wear a million times over.
Firstly, let’s say hello and welcome back to the scrunchie! Yay! I love a good top knot and scrunchie combo. A few years ago I would have hated everything about that sentence but the 80’s is reborn (at least in Cape Town it is) and I’m diving head first into all the wonderful bright and bold trends it has to offer.
The second amazing trend is the belt bag, or more commonly known as ‘the fanny pack’. I hate that term but I’m putting it out there so we’re all on the same page. You can’t really see it too well in these photos as I wore a black skirt with a black belt bag, but I promise it’s there! I know there are plenty of Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton and and and, belt bags that are shown on every blogger and their dog right now, but for me personally I don’t know if it’s a trend I will rock for months or years to come. So whilst I’m making up my mind I bought a belt bag from a vintage store for R199. It’s simple, comfortable and beyond affordable. Literally, I don’t know when last I bought anything for that price.

Skirt – Topshop
Top – Cotton On
Bag & Scrunchie – Hustle Apparel

This look is very straight forward and simple with a few twists here and there. The two main staple items are the denim jacket and black denim mini skirt. I have way too many denim jackets as it is, but Superbalist gifted me with this one recently and it’s moved to the top of my ‘must-wear’ list. A good over-sized denim jacket is a definite for every girl’s wardrobe.
A big thank you to Cape Town’s Arcade for letting us shoot there, as well as the delish cocktails – which never made it into the final edits. Once again thank you to the amazing Tegan Smith Photography for capturing this look for me.
